MOE Employs ICT Officers, School Social Workers & ECCE Cleaners

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has employed approximately two hundred and fifty (250) Information Communication Technology (ICT) Officers and Early Childhood Care and Education Centre (ECCE) cleaners.

The almost one hundred (100) ICT Officers were previously employed on a short term basis, following the completion of their previous contracts and have now been rehired on a contractual basis. They provide a critical high tech service within the education sector by ensuring that the schools computers, printers and audio and visual equipment are maintained and are working properly.  These technicians will be assigned to serve in the primary and secondary schools, District Education Offices and at Education Towers, Port of Spain.

Additionally, the approximately one hundred and fifty (150) ECCE cleaners will be assigned to about one hundred and thirty four (134) centres across the country. They will ensure that the centres remain clean and comfortable for staff and students, thereby ensuring proper curriculum delivery during class hours.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is taking steps to fill existing vacancies in the Student Support Services Division. These positions were advertised, candidates were shortlisted and applicants are being interviewed for the position of School Social Worker.

The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education said efforts to fill vacancies are part of the Ministry’s ongoing mandate to provide a more effective level of service to our students, teachers and all our stakeholders.
