2022 Nursing Assistant Training programme
The Ministry of Education, invites applications from suitably qualified persons to pursue a two (2) year full-time Nursing Assistant Training Programme.
The Nursing Assistant Training Programme will accommodate the following successful applicants: Fifty (50)
PROGRAMME DETAILS
The Nursing Assistant Training Programme is designed to expose Nursing Assistant Trainees to selected theory and practice. Trainees are required to undertake both Practical and Written Nursing Council Examinations and will also be required to undergo a one (1) year period of Internship.
THE NURSING ASSISTANT TRAINING PROGRAMME
Graduates of the Nursing Assistant Training Programme will be enrolled by the Nursing Council of Trinidad & Tobago, thereby indicating that they can be employed by Primary, Secondary or Tertiary Health Care Agencies as Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENA’s).
An Enrolled Nursing Assistant will be able to carry out the function of assisting the Registered Nurse in the role of administering care to individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must:
(a) Be citizens of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
(b) Be seventeen (17) years or older.
(c) Complete the application form (including the provision of two (2) references, not older than six (6)months).

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must possess:
Three (3) Ordinary Level subjects at G.C.E/C.X.C/CSEC (General Proficiency Level) Grades I, II and III (from June 1998 onward) inclusive of English Language, a Science subject AND one (1) reading subject.
The Science subjects accepted to apply to the Nursing Assistant Training Programme are:
- Human and Social Biology (Grades A, B and C) or (Grades I, II and III from 1998 onward)
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Integrated Science
The reading subjects accepted to apply to pursue the Nursing Assistant Training Programme are:
- Geography
- History
- English Literature
- Social Studies

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
a)All applicants will be required to obtain a Certificate of Good Character not older than six months (receipts will not be accepted)
b)Applicants who are employed by the Regional Health Authorities, MUST show evidence of approval from their respective RHA to pursue the Nursing Assistant Training Programme.
Only application forms received by the deadline date of October 17, 2022 with an accompanying Certificate of Good Character (receipts will not be accepted) from the Trinidad & Tobago Police Service, in response to this advertisement will be considered.
STIPEND
The payment of a monthly stipend to eligible Nursing Assistant Trainees will be provided by the Ministry of Education during the period of training.
- Nursing Assistant Trainees will be required to provide their own uniforms, books and transport.
- Nursing Assistant Trainees will not be required to meet any tuition fees.
CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION:
Upon entry into the Nursing Assistant Training Programme, Trainees will be required to enter into a contractual agreement to serve the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago/one of the Regional Health Authorities in Trinidad & Tobago for a period of two (2) years following successful completion of training.

Successful applicants who have been shortlisted (chosen) will be required to attend an interview. On the day of your interview, the following documents MUST be presented:
a) Original academic GCE/CXC/CSEC (General Proficiency) Certificates
b) Original references/testimonials (not older than six months). The person giving the testimonial/reference MUST give a written contact number & an address.
c) Original Electronic Birth Certificate and Affidavit (if applicable).
d) Original Electronic Marriage Certificate (if applicable).
e) Original Police Certificate of Character (receipts will not be accepted).
f) Original Approval letter from the relevant RHA (if applicable).
g) A correct address/postal address and a telephone/contact number.
