Singing at the MoE launches today!

Students of the Laventille Morvant School Improvement Project are bringing Christmas cheer to Ministry of Education employees and the public with their “Singing at the MoE” 2017 initiative. Beginning today, November 24, 2017 and continuing each week until the end of the school term, students of the schools involved in the Laventille Morvant initiative serenaded Ministry employees and the public with songs of the Season in front of the Education Ministry on St. Vincent Street.

The students are demonstrating that they can be the change they want to see in their communities. Living the mantra of the project, “I am the Change”, the primary and secondary school students are boldly stepping out and making a positive impact on society.

Students will also be presenting Cards and Dollars for Dominica during the lunch time seranade to demonstrate their own generosity and care for others and their wider Caribbean community. The initiative coordinated at each of the 25 schools that comprise the Laventille Morvant programme, is meant to help spread Christmas cheer to the children of Dominica who may be spending their worst Christmas following the devastation of hurricane Maria.

Today, Gloster Lodge Moravian Primary showcased their talent and creativity with a medley of holiday favourites.

The Laventille Morvant School Improvement Project is a mandate of the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, to operationalize an intervention targeted at the schools in the Laventille Morvant area.  The project is divided into four components aim at improving academic performance among students and effecting positive change to their physical, social and cultural environments.

Singing at the MoE will continue on November 30, December 1, 7, 8 12 and 13, 2017 with different schools at each installment.
