The Vacation Revision Programme (VRP) is one of the components of the Ministry of Education’s remediation programme currently being implemented. The VRP has been successfully conducted during the July/August 2022 vacation period in 33 secondary schools and further increased in 2023 to facilitate an additional 80 primary schools. The main purpose of the programme is to bridge the notable gaps in student learning.

The 2024 Vacation Revision Programme will be administered over a five (5) week period from July 8 to August 9, 2024, at 82 primary schools and from July 15 to August 16, 2024 at 21 secondary school in Trinidad.

The Ministry will extend the in-person remedial instruction activities that are ongoing during the academic year into the July-August vacation period. Students will be tutored in Mathematics, English Language Arts, English Language Arts Writing and co-curricular activities at both the primary and secondary school levels.

This year, Ministry of Sport and Community Development, Best Village Unit has come on board to introduce the Prime Minister’s Best Village agenda to students in the form of Spoken Word and Village chat with the option of Drumology, Tassa or Patriotic Dance. The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) elements serve as a means of promoting patriotism among our young people, thereby increasing awareness of their national identity and heritage through the arts.

Teachers are invited to apply to cover the fundamental areas of Mathematics, English Language Arts and English Language Arts Writing at the Secondary School VRP programme. Teachers will be specifically trained by the Curriculum Planning and Development Division (CPDD) to provide the tutoring needed and there will be guidance and counselling as well as parenting sessions available for students and parents.
